Top 3 World’s Funniest Poker Records

The past year has been incredible for poker. Many records were broken and it has prompted some thought on what other, somewhat wackier, world records poker players have managed - so here’s our top 3:
1. World’s Largest Strip Poker Tournament
Of course there is a record for the most people to play strip poker at any one time! Why wouldn’t there be?
It was set back in 2006 by Irish bookmakers Paddy Power, when they assembled 196 uninhibited souls (that’s about 195 more than my total!) at the Café Royal in London. John Young emerged triumphant, with a strategically-placed towel allowing him to hold the trophy aloft!
2. World Record Poker Chip Flip and Catch
Let’s start with an unofficial one – and something your writer used to attempt as a bored teenage milk delivery boy back in Scotland, with (other people’s!) real money.
The point of the game is to balance as many chips as possible on your elbow, and flip your arm round, catching them in your hand before they fall to the ground.
Twenty six chips? How many do you think you could manage? (By the way, don’t aim your elbow at windows, TV screens or small children!)
3. World’s Biggest House of Cards
I’ve managed nine (using glue and a staple gun – that’s allowed right?) but in 2007 Bryan Berg built – and then demolished – a massive card tower, having already taken the world record for the tallest house of cards at a whopping 7.86 m (that’s 25 feet 9 7/16 inches!)
Why publicly trample it to the ground? Because, as Bryan says, "..it’s cool" – and it dispels all the rumours about falsities (err, glue and staple guns anyone?). Watch and weep!
