When the Unibet Malta Open kicks off at the end of May, one lucky player will enjoy a free seat courtesy of the Online Poker League Season 2, which is already underway.

Malta has become a common and well-regarded stop for many poker tours, and May 26th to 29th will see Unibet take centre stage on the island once again with their €1000 buy-in Open event.

Back in 2010, Dutchman Mateusz Moolhuizen burst onto the scene with an epic victory, taking home €117,000 after besting a field of 293 players. Just last year, Moolhuizen did the Unibet double, taking down the their Antwerp Open. This year’s event, the Malta Open, will see player numbers capped at 450, with Moolhuizen out to record a famous hat-trick of titles.

As the Unibet guys say themselves, and few who have sampled their wares would disagree:

Since 2007 the Unibet Open has been synonymous with a great experience – not only running the best poker tournaments with the Main Event regularly selling out above cap, but also taking advantage of the best locations that Europe has to offer.

Unibet Poker

Unibet Poker are, of course, one of the best-known poker sites on the market, and being based out of Malta lets this event take on a special ‘home game’ feel. Their interests go beyond poker, with sports betting, online casino games, and the additional acquisition of bingo.com rounding out an impressive gaming and gambling portfolio.

OPL

Since the inception of the OPL (Online Poker League) last year, dozens of sites have clamoured to be included in the world’s leading online league. Season 2 has currently sports 10 leading sitesoffering 84 events between them.

Unibet, naturally, were one of the first to sign up – offering cash and additional prizes, plus of course OPL leaderboard points, which at the end of the season will decide what lucky player will take the all-expenses paid trip to Malta 2016!

The OPL itself offers poker players the unique opportunity to play a variety of different events across many sites, this week alone seeing several great tournaments all of which are accessible with a minor $5.50 buy-in. These include:

Naturally, in the modern digital age, a host of affiliates have joined in to bring you coverage of these events. These include Poker.org, PokerVIP.com, PokerTube.com, WeakTight.com, & TiltBook.com all providing content – from player forums to live analysis and discussion.

Media team in Malta

To cover all the excitement and stories from the Unibet Malta Open festival itself, the OPL willbe sending out their own media team – headed by Rikard Aberg, a legendary interviewer who has questioned pretty much everyone in the poker world over the years.

So, expect fine journalism, interesting interviews, and a host of other poker-tales to emerge from the much-anticipated event – including the eventual winner’s take on the tournament!
