The French businessman Arnaud Mimran was arrested on 20th January in Paris reported the Journal Du Dimanche. The charges against him include money laundering, the carbon tax scam and even involvement in several murder cases.

Wealthy French mogul is a successful real estate businessmen whose name is also well known in the poker world. Although his best tournament score came in 2006 when he finished in 13th place at the PokerStars EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo, he is well known in the high stakes cash games poker circles. Mimran was also one of the wealthy businessmen who pledged to play the initial installment of the $1 million Big One for One Drop Event, but he eventually decided to back out.

Arnaud Mimran has been living a high life in an over-sized luxury apartment with an indoor pool in an exclusive district of Paris where many famous people reside. According to the media he is in a relationship with the beautiful Paraguayan model, Claudia Galanti. His life seemed perfect from the outside but now he will have to explain to the authorities where he got the money and how much property does he actually own. It won’t be an easy task as the wealthy businessman only reported €45,000 income in the period 2010 - 2012.

The judge found that police had enough evidence to detain him and the French mogul was not granted a bail because Arnaud represents a flight risk. According to the investigators of the National Judicial Custom Department, Mimran could also be involved in several murder cases including the murder of a billionaire Claude Dray, his ex father-in-law, and Samy Souied - one of the names mentioned in connection to the carbon tax scam.

Claude Dray's murder is covered in the veil of mystery, as he was found dead at his home with no signs of forced entry and no signs of struggle. As for Souied, it is believed that him and Mirman had a meeting to talk about some investment opportunities before he was murdered. If the court confirms all accusations against him, Arnaud could be facing a life in prison.

According to the investigation, Mimran and his business partners earned millions in the carbon tax fraud that happened in 2009. The police has been investigating case related to the carbon tax fraud (CO2) and with the arrest of Arnaud it seems that the scheme will start to unravel. Arnaud’s lawyer Oliver Schnerb claims that his client is innocent and that all accusations against him are completely false.
