Weekly Highstakes Report: Doug Polk and Denoking Settling the Score, âIsildur1â Struggling
9 years ago23 Sep
Last week started in a unusally quiet fashion as HighStakes DB did not record any significant activity at the tables on Monday. Although reasons for this are uncertain, this was, as expected, only a short break, as action picked up on Tuesday.
The week started off well for 'KPR16' who took it to the FLO8 tables against Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom. Although Swedish phenom started off well, things turned up against him during the later part of the session. 'Isildur1' had ups and downs throughout the day, but final hour of the session really did him in, as 'KPR16' walked away pocketing $251K according to HighStakes DB reports. 'Denoking' also continued his good run against Doug 'WCGRider' Polk, beating him out of $131,000 at NLHE heads up tables.
Biggest winner on Wednesday was Dan Cates, but, untypically, his profit came from the Poker Stars NLHE and mixed games tables. Cates, playing under his Stars alias âw00ki3zâ, faced Polk and âpadorasbuxâ in two separate NLHE HU sessions as reported by HighStakes DB and also mixed it up with the likes of âSamRostanâ, âJLlamaâ and âcall42688â. All said and done, Jungle took home $197K and change. Ike âluvtheWNBAâ Haxton made hefty profit of 156K as well, all of it coming from the bankroll of âAthaCliathâ over at Full Tilt PLO tables.
Doug âWCGRiderâ Polk has been waiting for his opportunity to turn the tables and it has finally presented itself on Thursday. âDenokingâ has booked couple six-figure wins over Polk, but as HighStakes DB reports, nine-hour session that took place on Thursday saw him give it all back â and much more.
'Denoking' was struggling throughout the session, making up some losses, but it was Polk in control for the entire duration. Eventually, âDenokingâ had enough and declared he was done. At this point âWCGRiderâ was up just shy of $737,000. This still did not stop Polk from reminding resigned 'Deno' that he has once again stolen his button. Maybe not the most gracious thing to do in the situation, but position is position.
After this massive day, action subsided once again as the only day worth mentioning was Saturday, when HighStakes DB reported âbbvisbaadformeâ winning $109K on 2-7 Triple Draw tables. Majority of his profit came from playing âIsildur1â HU adding further $30K from his matchup with âFollow The Hawkâ.
Yesterday (Monday) finally brought some memorable action again, as two rivals â âDenokingâ and Polk continued their rivalry. This time, however, âDenokingâ was not up for a marathon session and in relatively short time span, he won some of his lost fortunes back, profiting $308K off Polk. We will certainly see much more of this in the coming days â and we are looking forward to it!
Another big winner of the day was German pro âSanIkerâ who pulled off a $278K session according to HighStakes DB â courtesy of Viktor Blom and nosebleeds 2-7 Triple Draw tables.
Check, please!
As always, after an overview of the week, we take a look at the final numbers. Story of the week were certainly two big rivals â Doug Polk and âDenokingâ, so how did they fare?
Cards definitely did not fall âDenokingâsâ way past seven days, as he ended up losing $350,000 according to HighStakesDB. It does not come as a shock that this is approximately the exact amount Doug âWCGRiderâ Polk is up for the last week, and his overall profit on Full Tilt now stands at nearly $1.3 million.
Things did not go right for Viktor âIsildur1â Blom either, as Swedish phenom spread $340K between his opponents. His lifetime graph now stands right at the -$3.5 million mark. âSanIkerâ only played one session, but it was a good one, bringing him $273K profit and moving his graph further in the positive direction â up to $625K profit according to HighStakes DB.
The guy whoâs been winning consistently over the past few weeks, âthecortsterâ, did not have any huge winning days, but still ended this seven day period with nice six-figure profit of nearly $170K. As for the railbirdsâ favorite Gus Hansen, he did not dignify us with his presence at the highstakes tables last week and has been generally missing in action.
