The poker world continued to host a number of major events across the world throughout the past week.

Whether it was in the UK, France or down under in Australia, some of the world’s best turned out for their chance at some poker tournament glory and a hefty pay day.

Ognyan Dimov Takes out EPT Deauville Main Event

He entered the final table of the Main Event in the coastal French city with a solid chance of winning it all, and that is exactly what Bulgarian poker shark Ognyan Dimov did.

The Bulgarian has shown himself to be an extremely strong online poker player, as shown by his Supernova Elite status on PokerStars.

However, Dimov showed that he was far more than a one-trick pony at the EPT Deauville Main Event after a stellar performance in heads-up play against Dany Parlafes.

After being down nearly two to one against Parlafes when heads-up play started, Dimov clawed back in a big way to gain the lead before landing the final blow to eliminate the Romanian and take out the Main Event.

Dimov won a very respectable €543,700 (around US$619,270) as a result of his great performance in the EPT Deauville event, which is by far the biggest win of his live poker tournament career.

ANZPT Perth Main Event Gets Underway

It has long held the tag of ‘Dullsville’, but the western Australian city of Perth has been anything but dull this week, at least not in its Crown Casino.

That is because the Australian New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) Perth got underway last week, with the Main Event having started on Wednesday.

While many of the Main Event’s 192 entrants have come from all around Australia, a number of players have also come from Asia and Europe as they aim to take advantage of the hot Perth summer while aiming for some poker glory.

Robert McLean was the chip leader of the 27 remaining players in the Main Event at the time this piece was written.

However, with AUD $105,000 (around US$81,500) set to go to the winner of the Main Event, it is likely that competition will heat up even more as the event enters its final day and a half.

2015 partypoker WPT National London Accumulator Event Gets off to Rousing Start

The annual accumulator event at the UK’s capital city got underway on Friday, and it has shaped up to be another successful event.

A total of 594 entries were registered over the event’s three starting flights, and 205 players made the cut to the second play of day, which is set to start later today.

Stuart Hulston will enter Day 2 as the chip leader, with 181,000 chips to his name, while Matas Cimbolas won’t be too far behind in second spot with a stack of 169,200.

Although the individual prize payouts have not yet been revealed (this will happen early in Day 2), the total prize pool for the event is £106,920 (around US$164,640).

Not bad at all for an event featuring a £200 (around US$308) buy-in!
