Wolfgang Poker has made history as the first poker-focused YouTube channel to surpass the 1 million subscribers mark.

The American poker enthusiast has brought his love of the small-stakes poker scene with fantastic videography to create the most popular poker channel on the YouTube platform

Wolfgang Poker, real name Alexander Seibt, learned to play poker in home games with his friends in a Chicago basement before he even hit his teens.

Not really having much idea about proper strategy, he muddled his way through until an unexpected win came his way one night. And that was it; he was hooked on the game.

The YouTube channel wasn’t even anything to do with poker at the start. Seibt was looking for an avenue away from the traditional 9-5 and chanced his arm at entertaining people on screen.

The breakthrough came as he tried impersonating Justin Bieber and a clip which went viral, attracting more than two million viewers.

It didn’t take long before the love of poker and making videos came together and the channel started to grow. But it wasn’t breaking any records to begin with. That came with the new idea of YouTube shorts that were aimed at taking on Tik Tok.

The one to two minute clips turbo-charged Wolfgang Poker with all of the increased visibility.

Seibt said:

"We have been on a speed run over the past few months and we just recently hit a million subscribers, which is surreal to say.

"I had no idea that the journey would take me this far. It’s honestly just crazy to say that we’ve hit a million subscribers."

We don’t think that anyone had any idea that this was possible with poker vlogging today.

Although Pokerstars has a channel with 1.72 million subscribers it’s not as popular as that of Daniel Negreanu — 783,000 subscribers — who runs a podcast complimented with plenty of behind the scenes vlogging at major events.

Brad Owen and Doug Polk come in with 701,000 and 400,000 respectively.

The world is his oyster, it seems. Wolfgang Poker is growing at more than 4,000 subscribers per day and celebrity clients are also hiring Seibt for photography contracts.

And then there’s casinos queuing up to pay him through partnership deals, which he has time to do now there is a full-time video editor looking after the channel. We look forward to seeing what the 29-year-old comes up with next.
