The first ever event of the Eureka Poker Tour to take place in Germany is underway in Hamburg. Although it is taking place at the relatively small Spielbank Schenfeld Casino, Eureka Hamburg has broken some records, becoming the biggest stand-alone Eureka event in the history, in terms of unique entrants.

Total of 581 players gathered to play over four starting days, generating a rather massive €563,570 prize pool to be distributed amongst top 87 places. As is usually the case, lion's share of that prize pool will be going to the winner, who will go home €107,920 richer on Sunday.

Total of 173 players returned to play Day 2 today, meaning that many hopes were crushed along the way. Amongst these hopefulls there were quite a few names you'd easily recognize, including Ole Schemion and Dzmitry Urbanovich.

Other names you may have heard of include Bosnian football player Sergej Barbarez as well as PokerStars Team Pro member Jan Heitmann and Friend of PokerStars Natalie Hof.

Not surprisingly, the casino in Hamburg attracted the majority of players from Germany, with the total number of 438 participants from the home country., making up for just about 76% of the total field.

Two players who started the day the chip leaders today are Marco Noll and Patrick Renkers, who both finished with the stack just over 300k. The first order of business today is getting through the bubble, which guarantees a payment of €1,750. After that, it is all about chip accumulation for the final table on Sudnay, where the minimum payday will be €11,670, with top dog taking home in excess of €100k and a cool trophy.

They will play for eight one-hour levels today after which they'll call it a day. Who will remain in the chase and who will fall short? The action continues in Hamburg until we find the champion on Sunday.
