After a preliminary schedule was issued earlier and a recent announcement regarding the $10k Main Event, the wait is finally over as the full schedule for the 2015 WSOP has been released. According to an official announcement, the 46th Annual World Series of Poker will feature a total of 68 different events with close to $200,000,000 in guaranteed prizes.

Exciting innovations

This year’s Series will be bringing many exciting innovations in terms of available events, starting stacks, and some other elements that players may find very appealing. As we mentioned a couple of days ago, WSOP officials decided to drop the $10 million guarantee for the Main Event winner, choosing instead to increase the number of players paid. This change was welcomed by a majority of the poker community, but it is only the tip of the iceberg.

  • New events

WSOP 2015 will feature a total of eleven all-new events, including the $565 Colossus with a $5,000,000 guarantee, $1,000 Super Seniors NLHE event for players 65 years old and up, and the $25k Pot Limit Omaha High Roller Event.

Apart from the Colossus, there is another event with a buy-in less than $1,000; a change that will most certainly be welcome news for many players wanting to play during the Series but reluctant to pay a minimum of $1k for the privilege. The $777 buy-in Lucky 7’s event should prove to be a big hit among players.

The $10k Dealers Choice will feature 19 different game variations to choose from. Although this is not the first time the event will make an appearance at the WSOP, this will be the biggest number of games ever offered in a single event.

  • More play

Drawing on earlier experiences, the organizers have decided to offer more play to those coming to Vegas for the summer. Most events will feature bigger starting stacks, giving players the opportunity to start at least 100 big blinds deep.

Accompanying these changes will be modifications to the tournament structure. A few more levels will be added to the lower buy-in events, making sure the starting amount offers even more room for players to maneuver.

What else to expect

Last year saw a huge turnout for the Series. WSOP reported a total of 82,360 entries in 2014, generating an overall prize pool in excess of $227 million. This year may see those numbers rise, as the new changes and increased number of events should attract even more poker players and aficionados to the poker center of the world.

The ONE DROP charity has proven to be quite a success during earlier installments of the WSOP and the Series will continue the tradition of raising money for the charity. Players will be able to donate 1% for ONE DROP and Events #58 and #61 will also feature a special charitable component.

The World Series of Poker will kick off on May 27th with the Casino Employees event and will last until July 14th, with the $10k Main Event beginning July 7th. On July 14th, play will be stopped after the Main Event final table has been reached and will restart in November.

The full schedule for all 68 events can be found at the WSOP website.
