A recent announcement from the U.S.-friendly Winning Poker Network (WPN) has revealed that jackpot-style SitnGos will be launched next month.

"Jackpot Poker" will make its debut on April 13 at buy-ins of $2 and $5. The hyper-turbo offering features progressive jackpots that can reach $5,000 for $2 buy-in games and $25,000 for players who post a $5 entry fee.

"We’re going to continue to push the envelope to offer our players more options than any other U.S.-facing network,” said Americas Cardroom spokesman Michael Harris, representing the top skin on WPN.

Lottery-style SinGos were first introduced by France-facing site Winamax, and later copied by others such as PokerStars and made even more popular. The Spin & Go offering at PokerStars unleashed a great deal of controversy when launched as online grinders complained that casual players - the bread and butter of online pros - would diminish at cash and other SitnGo tables.

Those complaints have died down over time. However, the reality of losing the skill factor of poker to such lottery-type games remains. At a time when mainstream society still doesn't fully understand that poker is a game of skill, it doesn't do much for the image of the game when the skill element is diluted.

Also in development at WPN is a Jackpot Poker app that will allow players to enter the lottery SitnGos while mobile. Details have not been made available as to whether the app will be unveiled on April 13 along with the new Jackpot Poker offering.

β€œWe are pushing out great products and features to make sure the need of our player base gets met,” Harris added.
