Anthony ‘Tony’ Gregg

Like a number of other current poker players, Tony Gregg grew up playing Magic: The Gathering. A strategic card game where the money isn’t as big as in poker, it is understandable how he became drawn to the latter as he grew up. Since turning pro over a decade ago, Gregg is a tournament specialist that has a proven track record in both live and online games.

Back in 2009, Tony scored his first ever seven-figure payday when he came runner-up in the $10,000 EPT PCA Main Event for $1,700,000. He edged out the likes of Benny Spindler, Cliff Josephy and Matt Glantz in a field with over 1,300 runners. You can hear him reflect on the tournament here. Three years later, he final-tabled the same event – finishing in 6th place for $364,000. His success at the PCA events have not stopped since; in 2014, he finished in the top 6 of the $100,000 Super High Roller event for $347,720. He came within touching distance of the PCA Main Event trophy once again in 2016, finishing second for $612,175. He has come equally close to winning other EPT events – most notably in the €25,000 High Roller EPT Monte Carlo event in 2013, where he finished second for a nice sum of $996,551.

Gregg’s biggest tournament victory to date came in the summer of 2013. Outlasting a star-studded and extremely competitive field, he took down the $111,111 One Drop High Roller event for a cool $4,830,619, taking home his first WSOP bracelet as well. Amongst the competitors were WSOP Main Event winner Martin Jacobson, tournament crusher Jason Koon and Antonio ‘The Magician’ Esfandiari. More recently, Gregg earned some TV time for a moment where he silenced the talking point of the 2016 WSOP Main Event – William Kassouf. Tony’s success has not been limited to the live tournament circuit. Playing under the screenname ‘wwwBTHEREcom’ on PokerStars, he has earned over seven-figures playing online poker in the last decade, with some big titles to his name. This includes a SCOOP win in the 2013 36-H $2,100+1R1A for $197,720. He also earned himself a Sunday Million title back in 2011 for $195,000, beating a tricky final table which included sponsored PokerStars pro Vanessa Selbst and Justin ‘ZeeJustin’ Bonomo.
