David Bach is one of the most well-respected mixed-game specialists in the poker world today. The Georgia resident (as the cowboy hat that he regularly sports at the table would suggest) partook in professional bowling for a number of years before turning to poker full-time. As he explained in a 2017 interview:

‘I realised that I knew I wasn’t going to make a good living from bowling. I also knew I could in poker’.

Now a three-time WSOP bracelet winner with over $4,000,000 in live tournament earnings since 2003, Bach certainly wasn’t wrong.

In 2009, the University of Georgia graduate picked up his biggest score to date with his first bracelet win at the $50,000 World Championship H. O. R. S. E. event. He was awarded $1,276,806 for the first-place finish after beating a final table that included legends of the game Erik Seidel, Huck Seed and Gus Hansen.

He added the second and third bracelets to the trophy cabinet in quick succession after an insanely impressive 2017 WSOP. The American earned two titles in 10 days: the first came at the $1,500 Dealers Choice 6-Handed event and the larger of the two was in the $10,000 H. O. R. S. E. Championship which earned him $383,208 along with the gold.

David’s successes weren’t without controversy, as he took issue with the formula that calculated Player of the Year rankings in 2017 – something that many pros including Daniel Negreanu had been outspoken about. As he wrote on Twitter:

‘I hate to complain about something when I am having such an amazing summer, but how am I 14th in POY with 2 bracelets @wsop @RealKidPoker’.

Now with more than a dozen WSOP final tables and 40 cashes to his name, Bach has earned the right to be recognised as one of the most successful mixed-game players to ever grace the series. When he’s not on the tournament grind, you’ll find David looking for the juiciest cash games around.
