Matthias De Muelder is one of Belgium’s top pros. Coming into the end of 2017, he clocked up just over US$1 million in live wins and continues to rake in an undisclosed amount online.

But it wasn't’ always so, before becoming Matthias De Meulder European Poker Tour Main Event final-table bubble boy (Barcelona 2011) and French Poker Series final-tableist (Snowfest-Evian 2012), he was one half of Belgian TV’s presenter twin duo: Matthias and Christophe.

Born in 1988, both the De Muelder brothers were put on to acting by their father at an early age when he signed them up for a number of auditions – resulting along the way in a meeting with an 18 year old Leonardo Dicaprio on the set of Total Eclipse. When they were picked up for their own show off the back of an audition for Man Bijt Hond (Man Bites Dog).

After the show Christophe left for Africa and Matthias took up poker in a big way, eventually becoming a PokerStars.be pro. As well as his live tournament wins in five different countries, including his home field at the 2013 Belgian Poker Challenge in Middelkerke, he has also taken down some of PokerStars regular tournaments like the Daily Eighty Grand (no longer running), The Big $109, The Hotter $75 and a $109 Sunday Rebuy. It was these victories that won him his pro status with the online poker site.

When his brother returned to Europe, Matthias’ enthusiasm for the game got him hooked and the two brothers have been rocking the Belgian poker scene ever since.

In the 2017 World Series of Poker Main Event he lasted all the way to 78th place, taking home $85,482.
