Proud Chilean Nick Yunis describes himself as a nomad. Being a tournament player that goes wherever the juiciest events are, it is certainly an apt description of his character. Yunis was formerly a musician that turned to poker as a means of making more money. Now with over $2,400,000 in online tournament earnings coupled with more than $1,200,000 generated from live tournament wins, it is fair to say that Nick most certainly has made more money through cards than music.

Playing as ‘chilenocl’ on PokerStars, Yunis is a two-time SCOOP winner with a WCOOP trophy to boot. He won the SCOOP-12-H NLH 6-Max Shootout event for $95,040 in 2016, winning his second SCOOP title in the identical event the following year for an equivalent prize. Clearly a specialist in the short-handed, shootout structure, Nick’s WCOOP victory in 2017 was in the $1,050 NLHE 6-Max Shootout event, making it back-to-back-to-back wins in such tournaments. Impressively, Yunis also has a TCOOP trophy in the cabinet as a result of shipping the $215 H. O. R. S. E. event back in 2015. Emerging triumphant in this mixed-game format showed that he was more than just a NLH specialist.

In the live arena, the Chilean acquired a significant WPT title after winning the $5,000 No Limit Hold’em event in Las Vegas for $249,152. The following year, Yunis established himself as a threatening presence on the WPT circuit as he made it down to the final nine at the $25,500 No Limit Hold’em High Roller event in Hollywood. Although he wasn’t able to get the job done, his fifth-place finish saw him outlast soon-to-be Poker Masters winner Steffen Sontheimer and fellow German prodigy Fedor Holz who busted in eighth and thirteenth respectively. Nick’s ability to compete and go deep in fields as tough as this one demonstrated once again that he has a real talent for the game.
