Mr McCormick has been around long before the 2003 online poker boom. A live tournament regular for well over two decades, the North Dakota native might just be one of the most experienced poker pros to have never won a WSOP bracelet. In his lengthy career, he has amassed over 65 WSOP cashes for a collective total of more than $700,000.

When you consider the fact that Tom has reached 12 WSOP final tables, his misfortune to have still not won a bracelet shows. Ironically, the closest he came was in his first ever live tournament cash – back in 1992 at the $2,500 Limit Hold’em event where he finished in third-place. He matched this result three years later, only this time it was on the $5,000 Limit Hold’em event – and on this occasion for a larger payday of $70,200.

It is clear that McCormick’s specialities are limit games, particularly Hold’em as well as Seven Card Stud. 10 of his 12 WSOP final tables have come in such formats, with the other two in Pot Limit Hold’em events.

The Shamrock Kid is a regular on the American poker circuit, with his biggest wins actually coming outside of the WSOP. His most significant cash to date was in the 2007 WPT $2,500 No Limit Hold’em Seniors’ Event, where he finished in second for a healthy $95,220. This same year, he scooped a WPT title after winning the $2,000 No Limit Hold’em 6-Handed event in Tunica for $74,132.

Still a WSOP regular on a mission to get his hands on the gold, he spoke in an interview about his continued desire to win himself a bracelet: ‘I have had a dream of a bracelet now since 1991. No Luck. Maybe these other guys are better than me, but I keep working on my game the best I can’. Until that day comes, Tom will have to settle for his ~$2,000,000 in live tournament earnings.
