1 Year 1 Mill Week 3 Results

Their lofty goal of earning €1 million in 1 year playing poker experienced its first setback as three of the four grinders lost money at the tables.

If you've been following along for the past several weeks at PokerTube and PokerVIP.com, you already know that four young poker-playing studs are holed up somewhere in Thailand on a quest to grind away for a year in an effort to collectively earn €1 million.

Land of Smiles

Perhaps "holed up" is the wrong phrase to use, as the boys admitted to partaking in some festivals in the "land of smiles" during Week 3 of their 52-week challenge. And if you've ever been to Thailand, you know there are various other delicacies readily available in the country, and I'm not necessarily talking about food.

While festivals and other delights are unavoidable, grinding at the poker tables is the main priority of Goodfake, JTK, Caveman, and Mogli - and the four have put in some insane hours doing so. The first two reports on their progress revealed profits of €149,967 and the boys seemed well on their way to achieving their goal.

Variance is a Bitch

But variance (and festivals) seemingly caught up with the grinders in their Week 3 results as Goodfake ( + €15.5K) was the only one of the four who posted a win. JTK (- €7K), Caveman (- €9,738) and Mogli (- €18K) were in the red, with the latter admitting to suffering through his biggest losing day ever.

Collectively, that resulted in Week 3 (each report is actually a bit longer than one week) being negative €19,238, putting their overall gain after 38 days of action at a positive €130,729. If they can come close to maintaining that pace for an entire year, the goal of reaching €1,000,000 can still be achieved.

What's Next

The grinders have been devoting their attention to mostly cash games at heads-up and 6-max tables. The stakes played range from 1/2 to 10/20.

Admitting to having "a blast at the festival," Caveman envisions an upswing in the Week 4 report. He is banking on his poker buddies joining him in posting a profit of at least €70,000 for the upcoming week.

Can the ballers reach the win total that Caveman boldly predicts for Week 4? Perhaps so, but they may have to attend less festivals and play more poker.
