Goal to Reach 1 Million in 1 Year

f it don’t make money, it don’t make sense!” is the battle-cry of four young poker players in their remarkable attempt to make €1million in just one year at the tables, focusing on heads-up and 6-max cash games online.

The fun-loving grindhouse team have started to videoblog their efforts on PokerVIP.com, opening with a baller-style introduction to their challenge, introducing themselves to the world. So who are the four crazy guys who have set the huge goal?

JTK, Mogli, Goodfake and Caveman describe themselves as 20-25 years old regular grinders, and plan to play at stakes anywhere from 1/2 up to 10/20 on well-known eurosites – all from the comfort of their luxury villa ‘somewhere in Thailand’ – not wanting to say exactly where for obvious security reasons!

So how did they fare in their first week? Well, a €63,000 win isn’t such a bad start to reaching €1million – and it was made in a mix of different styles, as the chart below shows!

Caveman
53 hours
+ 26,227
Mogli
99 hours
+18,000
JTK 92 hours
+14,500
Goodfake
30 hours
+4,000

Not a bad start, Goodfake admitting he needs to put in a bit more effort – but very impressive and figures I’m sure 99% of grinders would die for!

Of course, it’s not the first time such a challenge has been set, many readers will no doubt remember the 2months 2 million (2M2MM) challenge which saw Dani ‘Ansky’ Stern, Jay ‘KRANTZ’ Rosenkrantz, Brian ‘flawless_victory’ Roberts, and Emil ‘whitelime’ Patel being followed by the cameras as they tried the impossible.

Their Las Vegas grindhouse reality poker show was a huge ratings success among poker fans, but the guys failed to hit their target, amassing a phenomenal $676,700, but still way short of the $2million mark.

With our ‘Sunrise Team’ already on their way, the goal seems much more realistic and the poker vlog-style updates on YouTube and PokerVIP are much more accessible and meaningful to the average player – and they are doing it when the whole world is screaming that poker is at its lowest ebb in over a decade. Now that’s a challenge!

A question and answer vlog covered much of their plans – which might just include some live poker in Manila – or even Las Vegas if things run well and the bankrolls grow – and the busy boys have also managed to produce a hand analysis of Mogli’s impressive $19K session.

Of course, modern poker means everything is shared on social media and the 1 year 1 million crew understand this well, stating:

"For motivation, we will upload some videos - every second week (on Mondays) we will update you with our reports. Meanwhile, we will also upload some short videos of our lifestyle in Paradise.”

Which is great, of course, for those who love to follow the dream even if we can’t quite match it in our own poker lives. And naturally, the ‘baller’ lifestyle wouldn’t be complete without fun and games, so fishing trips and jacuzzis have made their way into the grindhouse vlogs too.

So, a great challenge and a great bunch of guys, so let’s support them as they aim for the magic million – because inspiration and dedication are both huge parts of poker.
