WSOP 2015 Main Event - Final Three Tables Formed
10 years ago
14 Jul
The final day of the WSOP 2015 is upon us, at least for the summer. Players have battled and clawed their way through the last event of the Series and as of today, there are only 27 players remaining in the Main Event. Today, that number will be further reduced to nine and the play will be put on hold until November when the final table will reconvene to finish what they've started in July.
It has been exciting tournament with many twists and turns and many big names going very deep, but as the time gone by, more and more of them were sent to the rail and hopes of many have been crushed during these last few days.
Close but no cigar
69 players returned to play yesterday, all well aware that more than half of them will have hit the rail before those still in bag and tag for the day. As the play got underway, the exits followed shortly, with the likes of Justin Bonomo, Steve Gross and Matt Jarvis joining their supporters on the rail.
Brian Hastings, who has had a great summer, will not be claiming the Main Event title and his total bracelet count will remain at three, at least for the time being. Hastings was sent packing in 49th after an absolute cooler hand but, as painful as they are, these are a part of poker as much as anything else.
Out of #WSOPMainEvent in 49th, CO raises 140k I make it 430k BB with KK, he makes it 1.08m I decide to jam 5.4m and lose to AA

The last lady standing was also eliminated yesterday, as Kelly Minkin got to see a free flop after checking her big blind. The flop gave her weak trips and as it turned out, this would be her last hand of the Main Event. With her exit, hopes of a lady at the final table were dashed.
In with a dream
With only three tables of players still remaining, the hopes of making the final table are becoming quite realistic for those with chips still in front of them. There is still some work to be done, but with only 18 players to go before the November Nine is formed, everybody is liking their chances.
Two men are sitting pretty at the moment, Thomas Kearney and Mozheng Guan, both over 14 million chips mark. Following them are Erasmus Morfe and Joseph McKeehan, both around the 12 million mark. McKeehan, who's been a serious threat throughout the Main Event, has been able to improve significantly on his starting position yesterday.
However, the story of this year's Main Event is, beyond any doubt, Daniel 'Kid Poker' Negreanu, who is making a serious run at the title. Negreanu has gone from strength to strength and was able to finish yesterday with 8.5 million in chips, which is good for 9th position overall to start the penultimate day.
End day 6 of WSOP main event with 8,495,000. Felt good all day and will be back to work tomorrow with the final 27

Negreanu, who's won nearly everything out there, is still missing the Main Event bracelet and there are many thousands of poker fans out there right now cheering for their favorite to make the final nine. For 'Kid Poker', the Main Event title would be a real cherry on the top in the year that he was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame.
Apart from Negreanu, the only former bracelet winner still standing is Max Steinberg who will have some work to do later today, as he is sitting near the bottom of the chip counts with 3.3 million in front of him.
The man who became known mostly for his online achievements, Fedor 'CrownUpGuy' Holz is also still in the mix, with 4.6 million. Holz has been going strong so far and today it is time to really shine.
Although U.S. players make up for the majority of the field, there are still four Germans in the mix, one Israeli, one Canadian (who might that be), one representative of the UK, one Italian and one player hailing from Belgium - yesterday's chip leader Pierre Neuville who finished the day with 6,000,000 chips even.
Nine names that will fill up the headlines of the poker media in the coming months will become known in less than 24 hours. Who will they be?
