WPT Poker Closing Shop on June 3rd

According to the statement on the company's web site and an email sent to their users, WPT Poker will stop all of its operations on June 3rd. While there are no additional explanations offered at the moment, one could speculate that the decision most likely has something to do with the announced sale of bwin.party, the company behind the World Poker Tour and owner of the network on which WPT poker online room exists and operates.

The only vague explanation pertaining to the closure is the statement citing: Unfortunately, the business has decided that WPT Poker should close. This is followed by another statement asserting that the closure is not temporary and that there are no plans for reestablishing the room in the future.

You know the drill

This is not the first online room that had to close the shop, so users are most likely acquainted with the procedure which, in this case, doesn't deviate from what we are accustomed to. Players can withdraw their funds as standard, by accessing the Cashier and selecting the Withdrawal option. After June 3rd, there will be a three-month window during which the funds will be available for withdrawal, without any restrictions.

Any and all reward points still available to players should be spent before the official closure; any remaining points after that date will lose all of its value and there will be no way to exchange them for cash.

Bad news for players who have active bonuses is that these will not be compensated; e.g. players who are halfway through releasing a bonus (or a certain part of it) will not receive any financial compensation for this.

All unused tournament dollars and tickets will be converted to cash on June 3rd.
