In what could be viewed as further signs the novelty of the US regulated online poker markets has worn off, the state of Delaware has recorded a decline in online poker revenues for the month of July.

The small eastern state, which has three regulated online sites in its jurisdiction, posted total revenues of US$28,158 last month.

That marked a 9.9 per cent decline year-on-year, and is the lowest revenue that has been recorded in the state since January this year.

Overall earnings for online gaming also do not paint a pretty picture for the progress of Delaware’s online gaming industry.

Total online gaming revenue in July was US$142,083, which is a 17.6 per cent year-on-year decline on last July’s revenues.

The declining revenues in Delaware cannot be used in itself to paint a picture of the overall online poker and gaming industry in the US.

However, the two other states to have online poker industries – New Jersey and Nevada – have also had less than stellar bottom lines throughout 2015.

That suggests that the intrigue of regulated online poker is no longer there, at least among some interested players.

While there is room for another boost in online poker revenue in Delaware, its small size and population mean that it has a small ceiling with regard to how high revenue can be.

Delaware’s total online poker revenue for the first seven months of the year currently stands at US$252,488.

April has recorded the highest monthly revenue so far in 2015, with US$48,552 having been recorded in that month, while March was not too far behind with US$43,636 of revenue.

As previously stated, January has recorded the lowest monthly revenue for Delaware so far in 2015. Just US$27,695 in online poker revenue was recorded in the state that month.
