The Irish Revenue Commissioners rubber-stamped a license application submitted by PokerStars that allows the gaming giant to offer sports betting to punters in Ireland.

The Remote Bookmaker’s License comes prior to a new season of football and adds to PokerStars' growing number of gaming licenses throughout the world. Players in Ireland can now access PokerStars' sports betting services without being required to download new software.

“We’re very pleased to receive a license for our sports betting offering on PokerStars in Ireland,” said PokerStars Managing Director of Sports Betting, Stephen Fisk. “Our operation of poker, casino games, and now sports betting shows that players trust us to deliver a variety of games in a fun and exciting way.”

The online poker and casino games offered to the Irish are regulated under a license issued in Malta. That will not change with the approval of the new sports betting license.
