PokerStars Players Experiencing Serious Technical Difficulties

Although PokerStars has long been probably the most stable and user-frinedly online poker platform, after the new version of the software, PokerStars 7, has been completely integrated, more people have started complaining about connectivity issues. These complaints have somewhat culminated in the 2+2 thread that was started couple of days ago.
Whether the issue is somehow directly connected to the new instance of the software or it is caused by something else completely is not known at this time. Either way, many unhappy players gathered on the forum to voice their frustration and disappointment with the current situation.
The complaints first started rolling on the evening of Friday, April 10, with a number of players reporting on being timed out in big pots or watching helplessly as they are blinded out of the tournaments. Upon contacting the support, most users received the same, formalized answer, confirming that PokerStars is aware of the issues and they are working on restoring everything back to normal as soon as possible.
. @PokerStars experiencing connection/lag issues. S/W guys are on it. We'll update you the moment we know more. Thanks for your patience.

Although Jones reported some hours later that the issues have been fixed, the players continued having troubles with logging in, registering for tournaments and playing at the tables, with serious lag plaguing seemingly the entire network. However, not all players were affected and one user even reported that he couldn’t connect at all, while his roommate was playing just fine, without any issues.
After a while, things did get somewhat better, as players were again able to play, but they were still reporting a severe lag at the tables. Accustomed to top notch playing experience (for the most part, at least), those posting in the thread were voicing a genuine disappointment and shock due to the entire situation. Lee Jones posted once again on his Twitter yesterday, claiming that the issues have now “mostly” been solved, which was seemingly a good news.
. @PokerStars connection issues "mostly" gone, but support q's are backed up & responses are slower than normal. Thanks for your patience.

However, the hope was short lived, as not long after players started experiencing serious problems all over again, with several players reporting not being able to log in at all. While everyone is waiting for an explanation from the PokerStars, there are no real clues as to what is going on exactly. The lag this bad and this long-lasting is certainly hurting the company in more ways than one and there is no doubt that they are doing everything in their power to rectify the situation.
The lack of results suggests that for whatever reason they are not able to do it and meanwhile, players’ frustration deepens. It is no secret that the weekends, Sundays especially, are the biggest days for poker players and not being able to play will certainly cause a lot of distress. Is all this caused by some sort of malicious attack? Other rooms have been targeted in the past and PokerStars is certainly a big prize for anyone able to bring it down and disrupt its day to day operations.
Although the company boasts probably the best security in the industry, there are always ways to circumvent it for someone with enough knowledge and willingness.
Hopefully, PokerStars will be able to figure it all out soon enough and games will be back to normal. There are many out there eagerly awaiting to play their Sunday schedule and, whatever the reason, they will not be happy to see that this is not really an option.
We are still working through the recent technical issues, but all our regular Sunday games are available. Thank you.
