Results of new poll which was commissioned by the PR firm The Bravo Group showed that Pennsylvania voters are behind proposal that would allow online poker in the state.

Online poker is the main topic in Pennsylvania due to the legislation that was introduced by John Payne (R-106). The legislation would allow online poker and casino games in the state, while simultaneously helping the state budget.

769 registered voters have participated in the poll which was conducted between May 9 and May 15. It showed that 58% support legalization of online gambling in Pennsylvania while 26% are against it.

According to the additional poll results, 66% voters want Pennsylvania to pass a law that would tax online gaming in order to provide money for education and other state programs. Registered voters also answered that they want technology that would prevent children and minors from gambling as well as technology that would help those who struggle with gambling addiction.

The results showed that Pennsylvania voters support online gaming in the state as long as the legislation provides necessary regulations.

The results of the new Poll, commissioned by the PR firm the Bravo, are in contrast to the poll conducted nearly month ago and backed by the casino mogul Sheldon Adelson. Adelson’s poll found out that nearly three-quarters of Pennsylvania voters are against online gambling.

John Payne explained that he doesn't find those results shocking because the poll was funded by the man who is against online gambling and has vested interest in the outcome. In his opinion, the Adelson’s poll doesn't hold much credibility due to the way it was done.

Two polls conducted in a short time period produced different results most likely because of the form of the questions that were asked. If someone wants particular results of the poll, it is not that hard to form a question in order to get answer they want. Payne said that polls that are done by independent organizations are more legitimate than polls funded by someone like Adelson.

In Adelson’s poll voters were asked questions that were designed to give the answers that Sheldon wants. The poll asked voters if they are more likely or less likely to support online gambling based on series of statements.

Legalizing online gambling in Pennsylvania will make it easy for children to be exposed to and participate in gambling, since it is nearly impossible to prevent minors from gambling online. One of the statements in Adelson’s poll www.mcall.com;

With such statements, it was hard to expect that voters would support online gambling, especially those who are not familiar with online gambling industry. However, new poll showed amazing results and it also demonstrated what Pennsylvanians want and expect from the online gambling industry.
