Last year Benny Glaser entered several events in the World Series of Poker but they failed to produce. This year was a bit better as the young gun Southampton, UK claimed the victory in $1,500 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball event and collected his first WSOP gold bracelet.
$1,500 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball event attracted 388 players generating a $523,800 prize pool. Moments after the win, Benny said that this is one of his best games, as he plays it online all the time. Due to his talent and his impressive play, especially in the final stages of the tournament, Glaser wasn’t surprised that he won bracelet in this event. He believed from the get-go that this event gave him the best chance to win as he is very confident about his skills in the lowball games.
The victory didn't come as easy as he expected, however, as he found himself in quite an unfavorable position at the start of the heads up play. With 4 - 1 chip deficit and facint three-time bracelet winner Brock Parker, it looked like Glaser would have to be satisfied with a runner-up finish. Poker gods were on his side, however, as he was able to win several key hands and eventually outlast his opponent in the final pot to claim his first prestigious poker trinket.
Benny took home $136,215 while Brock Parker won $84,132 consolation prize. Parker, from Silver Spring MD, is a WSOP veteran with 40 career cashes, three bracelets and more than $2.2m WSOP earnings and this is just another in the series of good results for him; that said, he certainly tried his best to add another gold to his resume, but it just wasn't meant to be.
While last year's Series was anything but stellar for Glaser, WSOP 2015 is treating him far better as apart from this bracelet, he also made a rather deep run in the Millionaire Maker event, eventually finishing in 289th spot.
Brock, on the other hand, fell just short of joining the special category of multi-gold bracelet winners who garnered additional titles at this year’s WSOP. This elite group includes Phil Hellmuth, Robert Mizrachi, Phil Galfond, Jeff Madsen, John Gale, Tuan Le, Keith Lehr, Daniel Alaei, Brian Hastings and Max Pescatori.
Another bracelet winner present at the final table was Andrew Brown. Brown, 33 year-old player from New York, won WSOP gold in 2008 but this time around he would go no further than a fifth place.
The group of gold bracelet winning players who also cashed in this event included Phillip Hui (10th), Dutch Boyd (11th), Greg Raymer (21st), Michael Mizrachi (28th), Vanessa Selbst (39th) and Allen Cunningham (42nd).
