Allen Cunningham Wins The First WSOP Event $250 Daily Deepstack1 year ago
The Rio opened the doors to the Amazon Room at 09:00 on the 29th May 2018 for the 49th annual World Series of Poker. The first event was at 13:00, the $250 Daily Deep Stack, a non-bracelet event to keep the low rollers busy while the big boys wait for the $10k turbo to start.
But it would seem that for Allen Cunningham waiting another twelve hours for the bracelet events was testing his patience so he dropped a quarter at the cage for the very first event of this years series and ended up starting his summer with a first place finish.
As the 4th place runner-up at Jamie Gold’s WSOP Main Event win, and owner of 5 bracelets of his own outright, he might have seemed a little out of place risking a mere two-fiddy bucks on a tournament entry. Especially when there is no actual bracelet up top and very little tea in the prize pool. This is a man with over $11 million in cashes to his name after all.
But who are we to tell Allen Cunningham how to warm up for his Series?
The event is so small we don’t even have a report on what the winning hand was.
I guess all you low-rollers out there in Vegas are gonna want to watch your back, there’s a shark in your pond this year.
