The Team Pro roster at Americas Cardroom gained more strength and diversity with the announcement that Argentine poker pro Jose Ignacio “Nacho” Barbero has joined the fold.

A resume that includes crushing live tournament action to the tune of $8.7 million in lifetime cashes is Barbero's calling card. That prompted ACR boss Phil Nagy to come calling for Nacho, adding him to the ranks with plenty of action left in the High Five Tournament Series that runs from April 1-20.

“I’m thrilled to join the ACR Team,” Barbero said. “I’m excited to be representing a site that loves poker as much as I do and puts the players first."

A former top-ranked Magic: The Gathering player, Nacho transitioned to poker and in 2010 he took down two Latin American Poker Tour titles within a span of 100 days, adding more than $500,000 to his bankroll. Four months later, he binked a European Poker Tour High Roller in London for another $870,082.

Consistent cashes followed in ensuing years, reaching a new high at the 2022 WSOP where Barbero won his first gold bracelet in the $7,000 buy-in NLHE Super Turbo Bounty event for $587,520. He'll be patched up - ACR style - for the 2023 WSOP in a quest for more such jewelry.

Nacho is having a fantastic 2023. It began with the biggest cash of his career - a whopping $1,551,300 - at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas in the $25K Main Event for finishing 4th.

First place in a $15K at the Triton Super High Roller Series in Vietnam last month was good for $600,000. Just a few days later in a $25K buy-in, the Argentinian landed in 2nd place for $460,000.

From there it was on to Las Vegas and the PokerGo Tour for another title in the $10K PGT PLO Series and a $234,000 payday. Barbero then made three final tables at the US Poker Open, his best a 2nd place finish in a $10K worth $168,000.

An ACR sponsorship is well-deserved at this point, especially considering that Nacho is one of Latin America’s most well-known players.
"I look forward to the opportunity of introducing ACR into new markets and help grow it even more into a worldwide brand,” Barbero added.
You can find Nacho playing under the screen name of “Travisrice” at Americas Cardroom.
