"I finally did it. I finally fucking did it!", was Bart Hanson’s reaction after busting out of the $10k Omaha HiLo 8 or better bracelet event – not because of his 86th position well short of the money, but because he decided to dull the pain from his exit by playing video poker across the road at Caesars Palace, and scooped the $200,000 jackpot with a Royal Flush!

Hanson shared the story of his incredible win with Jeff Platt from PokerNews, explaining he has a system of playing the machines to lower the house edge, telling Platt “You have to play big!” - his winning strategy involving a hefty $250 a pop.

“I was actually playing a game, which is called Bonus Poker, that I don’t usually play,” he explained, his reason being, “I never hit the Royal” on his ‘Jacks or Better’ favourite, figuring if he hit 4 of a kind he’d get $50k – and sure enough, the Royal Flush came in clubs, Hanson flabbergasted at the massive score.

“I was down to 10 credits left ($2500) having started with $8000 or something like that,” Hanson said, adding when he hit it:

“I was sort of in shock – nobody was around in the high stakes area at Caesars!”

The Crush Live Poker pro expects the video to go viral, although he didn’t catch the part when the cards came in to make in Royal Flush, explaining that he doesn’t bother videoing when he needs two cards to a Royal as it’s about a 1000-1 chance.

…the main question now being whether the jackpot winner sticks to video poker or heads back to see if he can add some WSOP cash and jewellery to his swagbag!
