One of the biggest gaming operators around, Unibetis posting revenues in the 8 figure range with their poker operations, and they’re still growing and improving their financial standing. That’s clear from the growth they’ve seen this year, one trimester to the next. They’ve announced recently that during the third trimester of 2014 their revenues saw a 17.6% increase over the numbers from the second trimester. In this case, the increase was from $2.7 million to $3.2 million and although it is a good number, they’ve seen even better times in the past.

The number is not as great when you compare it to the amount they were posting just a year or two ago – the 31% lower than in Q3 of 2013. There are certain moves that Unibet made this year that explain the lower income, but since they’re growing right now there is a good chance that they made the right move and they will able to go back to the level of income they had before from their poker operations.

Unibet has recently made the move to its own poker platform, giving up the MPN Network that they were previously using. This seems to be the main reason for the large decrease in income when compared with last year. The platform they’re currently using was created by Relax Gaming and the focus was on getting more recreational players onboard. Some time still has to pass before we find out whether they’ve made the right move when they’ve created their own network.

Unibet Poker is a platform that was designed to make things a lot simpler for the player, the developers claiming that it manages to make the playing field a lot fairer when recreational players are dealing with the professionals. While trying to keep things as simple as possible they’ve left out some settings that pros have come to expect, but they claim that it’s an advantage and that the game is as fun as always.

Simple doesn’t mean without features, so you will find multi table tournaments, missions you can pursue, the possibility to get achievements, cash tickets, bonus features, tournament tickets, different backgrounds to use on the screen, great looking animations and so on. You can play Texas Hold’em, Omaha or Fast Hold’em and the option of Sit & Go is there as well.

Though it might not be the kind of experience a pro might want, recreational players should give Unibet a chance and see if their new poker software makes it more fun for them to play. And then again, if you are a pro, you might want to test the waters as well due to the above.
