The inaugural Bratislava Poker Festival concluded with everyone agreeing that the first edition had been a great success. All players who visited The Card Casino were giving high praise for the standard of the venue and welcoming atmosphere among both players and staff.
€1,300,000 Prize Pool Smashes Guarantee
The festival exceeded all tournament guarantees, with a total of €1,300,000 in prizes, surpassing the €1 million guarantee advertised before the PartyPoker sponsored event began. The main event, the Bratislava Grand Prix, drew 1,113 entries and had a prize pool of more than €540,000.
Greece’s Alex Dimogiorgis took down the event, bagging a €102,000 prize after defeating Germany's Bruce Dillan Lee.

The Bratislava Grand Prix was sponsored by PartyPoker, but the series was put together by Irish Poker Tour.
Plenty of Irish players made the trip to support the event, with some achieving notable success.
Andrey Cruz, a Brazilian based in Galway, Ireland, finished 18th in the Grand Prix and won €2,250. Although not a native Irishman, he still took the bragging rights as the best finisher of the contingent.
Roy Walker achieved an impressive double win, taking both the Friday Night Freezeout and the Omaha 7 Max on the final day, earning a total of €6,920. Fintan Gavin secured fifth place in the Euro Omaha Championship, for €10,240. Bulgaria's Boris Angelov won the event, banking €40,000.

Irish Poker Tour regulars Manus O'Donnell, Ray Wheatley, Brian McCarthy, Mike 'Corky' Corcoran, and Johny McCullagh didn’t manage to add a win to their records during their trip but they did all make at least one cash.
The success of the Bratislava Poker Festival was expected by anyone who knows the team behind the Irish Poker Tour. Its reputation for running great events in Dublin is second to none. Anyone who had a great time in Bratislava should take a look at the upcoming Lúnasa Lunacy Festival scheduled in Dublin from August 25 through 27, and the Killarney Festival that runs from September 27 through October 1. Online satellites for these events are running daily on tour sponsor Paddy Power Poker’s platform.
PartyPoker has announced it willcontinue its partnership with the Irish Poker Tour team for the inaugural Irish Poker Festival. This event will take place in Dublin, featuring a €1,000,000 guarantee and a main event guarantee of €700,000. This promises to be one of the best events of the year so don’t miss out. Satellites are currently running on PartyPoker for players looking to secure their seat early for a fraction of the normal buy-in cost.
