British Poker Awards ceremony took place on the evening of February 23rd at the London based Hippodrome Casino, gathering some of the biggest names in the industry to be recognized for their achievements and efforts.

Sponsored by one of the biggest stand-alone poker platforms, Unibet, some of the categories for this year’s British Poker Awards included Poker Personality of the Year, Best Live Cardroom, Best Blogger, Best Performance of the Year and quite a few others.

PokerStars representatives dominated the field, as a number of Team Pro and staff members were awarded the prizes in several categories. The 'Best Tournament Director' award was handed to Toby Stone third year in a row. The man behind European Poker Tour and UKIPT was thrilled but humble in his victory, giving credit to his tournament staff without who none of it would be possible.

This was a big surprise and I’m really happy to have won. What makes it even better is that it was a reader’s choice award. To be recognised by the poker fans is amazing.

Jake Cody was triumphant in the ‘Best Blogger’ category, for his blogging efforts throughout the year, following his career and personal life, and offering some useful advice to the readers. If you are interested in what brought him the award, you can find some of Jake’s blog entries here.

Daniel Negreanu won the award in the ‘Best International Player’ category for his achievements in 2014. His two most notable successes included two runner-up finishes in the World Series of Poker, most notably the second place in the Big One for One Drop event that brought him just shy of $8.3 million in prize money. ‘KidPoker’ also had numerous other deep runs and finishes scattered throughout the year.

Had Victoria Coren-Mitchel not part ways with PokerStars recently, the company could boast three more awards, as that’s the number of trophies Vicky took home on 23rd. She was declared winner in three different categories, those being ‘Best Social Media’, ‘Poker Personality of the Year’ and ‘Performance of the Year’. The last of the three was recognition for her success in EPT San Remo in April, as her victory made her the first player to have two EPT titles to their name.

Other multiple winners at the Monday’s ceremony included Simon Deadman and Robert Yong, who were triumphant in two different categories each.

Next up are American Poker Awards, sponsored by Global Poker Index, taking place on February 27th in Beverly Hills, California.
