It was yet another ‘epiphany’ for the young English high-roller as he apparently battled internet problems from a ‘Starbucks in Mexico’ to take down the final biggie of the SCOOP, a $1million+ scoop to cement his place as one of the most talented players of his generation.

The Main Event in PokerStars online spring festival was split into 3 separate buy-ins and the ‘High’ version probably suited ‘Epiphany77’ for many reasons, given his self-confessed ‘weed dealing’ job before poker fame and  fortune found its way into his life.

The $10K event was a star-studded field, with Connor ‘blanconegro’ Drinan perhaps the biggest name to make the final table apart from Carrel, and it was this pair which held up the start of proceedings because of some ‘connectivity’ issues.

With a prizepool of $6,930,000 on the line, it was the perfect way to end 3 weeks of excellent competition and Carrel had already found good fortune – misclicking to enter a tournament which he barely knew the rules of… and winning!

Of course, No Limit is a game he knows incredibly well, running up his initial $10 deposit into $5.7million within just a few years and taking down the Monte Carlo Grand Final High Roller for his first $million score in 2015, followed by another 7-figure payday at the PokerStars Caribbean Championship this January.

Starting the final day of the SCOOP event as the short-stack it looked unlikely he would be on course for another truly massive score, but as the players started to fall, Carrel steadily built his stack back to playable proportions, watching the likes of Finnish duo Emil Patel and Samuel Vousden fall by the wayside, with Drinan hitting the rails in 6th place for a sweet $250,723.

It was Harrison ‘gibler321’ Gimbel who was to prove the final hurdle for Carrel, but an early heads-up deal guaranteed both men huge payouts with $100,000 set aside for the winner. There can be only one, as they say, and Carrel gradually outplayed the Canadian before settling things once and for all with his Jc8c overcoming the short-stacked Gimbel’s Kh9h.
