Coolers & Kroon on Poker Night in America
7 years ago14 Mar
David 'ODB' Baker's run good continued in the final day of action on Poker Night in America's tour stop at the Thunder Valley Casino Resort earlier this year.
ODB concluded the session by scooping a $6,500 pot when his pocket jacks materialized into a straight on the river. His hapless victim was an all-in Mark Kroon who had two overcards to the jacks and watched painfully when one of those overcards hit the board on fifth street, only to lose to Baker's straight.
"I'm going to call it a day, guys," Kroon lamented, down $5K in PNIA's final results scorecard.

How They Fared
Kroon wasn't the biggest loser, however, as Mike Ross (- $9,650), JC Tran (- $11,575), Keith Bowman (- $12,450), and Mark Bonsack (- $12,450) all ended up on the wrong side of the ledger in greater amounts. Phil Hellmuth lost a modest $1,725, not bad for the Poker Brat, whose televised cash game appearances tend to reward his tablemates financially.
Leaving Thunder Valley with bulging pockets after this session were Baker ( + $32,825) and Doug Lorgeree (+ $16,025), while Maria Ho (+ $6,750) and Bart Hanson (+ $3,375) booked solid wins as well.
Pairs Galore
One memorable hand saw four pros all dealt pocket pairs, with Lorgeree's queens the best of the bunch and worthy of a raise to $300 in the $25/$50 game with $100 straddle. Ross three-bet to $800 with jacks and got calls from Kroon and Tran before Lorgeree four-bet to $4,300.
Ross mucked his hand, but Kroon, who also had pocket jacks, re-raised to $11,175, prompting a fold from Tran and his pocket sevens. Lorgeree made the (all-in) call and Kroon had a look of both surprise and disgust when Lorgeree flipped over ladies and Ross informed him that no other jacks would be forthcoming as he had mucked his pair.
Kroon's 3% chance of winning became a dead draw after the flop and Lorgeree grabbed a nice-sized pot of $23,950.
