Daniel Negreanu Eyeing up Another Bracelet at WSOP 2022

The 2022 edition of the World Series of Poker is right around the corner, and card players all over the world are getting geared up for this momentous occasion. Along with the thousands of amateur players who’ll be flocking to the new WSOP venues of the Horseshoe and Paris casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, there will be plenty of major names in attendance. Daniel Negreanu is one player who’s licking his lips at the opportunity to play at the paramount event in the poker calendar from May to July this year.

Negreanu Hasn’t Won a Bracelet Since 2013

Negreanu may be one of the most famous card players on the planet, but he is way behind a lot of his peers in terms of success at the WSOP. He has only earned six bracelets in his career, with two of those coming in the Europe and Asia Pacific competitions. He did win the WSOP Asia Pacific in 2013, but it’s no secret that the Canadian covets the highest honors in the American event.

Many players regard Negreanu as one of the greatest Texas Hold’em players on the planet, but he knows he needs to acquire more bracelets to officially become the best. Other major players like Phil Hellmuth and Phil Ivey have had more success, picking up 16 and 10 bracelets respectively throughout their careers.

What Events will Negreanu Participate in?

As usual, there are innumerable events for players to take part in at the WSOP. Indeed, there are 88 live events and 14 online tournaments, meaning that there are loads of bracelets up for grabs. Negreanu has big plans for the summer and is expecting to enter 49 of the live events. Kid Poker’s buy-ins for these events will total more than $930,000 so he will be desperately hoping to cash in some of them to make a return on his investment.

Negreanu will start his 2022 WSOP journey with the $100,000 High Roller Bounty, where there are $25,000 bounties on the heads of each player. If he knocks anyone out of the competition, half will instantly go into his purse, while the other half will be added to the bounty on Negreanu’s head. This tournament offers a great springboard for the 47-year-old to get in the aggressive mood he requires for success.

Some of the other notable events that the astute psychological player will be entering include the $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller, the $25,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold’em Championship and, of course, the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event World Championship at the start of July.

Notable Past Winners Show How the Event is Open to Amateurs as Well

One of the reasons why the WSOP has become the biggest event in the poker world has been down to the fact that it has turned several amateur players into stars. Indeed, the rise of online poker had a massive impact on the WSOP and helped draw attention to it.

It all started when Chris Moneymaker qualified for the Main Event through an online satellite tournament in 2003 and then went on to win the tournament for a prize of $2.5 million. Online casino playing helped promote these tournaments as well, and the gambling industry online is a massive contributor to the WSOP. For example, players who go in search of the top RTP slots like Book of 99 and Blood Suckers show that they want to get a better return on their investment than those who search for slots with lower RTP percentages.
