High-stakes legend Daniel Negreanu has revealed that this year’s World Series of Poker has resulted in a $1.4 million hit to his bankroll. The 43-year-old Canadian released a vlog during the $1 million buy in Big One for One Drop showing that he had played 15 events during the series but only cash in five of them for a meagre $111,103.

It’s not been the greatest year for Negreanu, even after starting off well with a fourth place at the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure in the $100,000 High Roller for more than half a million dollars. The US Poker Open followed with some respectable results and then came the Super High Roller Bowl at the Aria Casino, Las Vegas. Another great run in a high roller event saw Negreanu bag $3 million for second place behind Justin Bonomo. The man who has just replaced him at the top of the all-time tournament winners list.

Even after this less than satisfactory performance at the WSOP, Negreanu will be seriously preparing for the next major event of the year. He now intends to spend a month working on his fitness and enjoying some free time with his beloved dogs at home.

Even with a mediocre showing Negreanu still managed a pair of final table appearances. And anyway, it’s likely his yearly stipend from PokerStars will take the sting out of this loss over the summer!
