Daniel Negreanu: WSOP Grind Begins!

The WSOP 2017 is well underway and Daniel Negreanu has been no shrinking violet when it comes to setting himself targets for a long hard summer grind in Vegas, offering even money bets on him taking down 3 bracelet events and vlogging what he has in store for his fans.

“Day one, World Series of Poker, starting fresh!” says Dnegs, and the most surprising thing is not the host of side-bets, or Daniel doing a topless vlog – it’s his decision to get rid of that beard he’s been sporting for some time now.

Why? His cunning plan is to shave every time he takes down a bracelet an ’a at glance’ Negreanu result-ometer if you will, and there will be plenty of opportunities for Daniel to wield the razor, although his first effort – the $10k buy-in Tag Team event fell just short of the jewellery, his team including David Benyamine, Eric Wasserson and Mark Gregorich unable to turn their overnight chip lead into better than a 3rd spot finish.

It’s a chirpy, cheery and almost unrecognizable Negreanu who ends up vlogging from the gym sans beard, his workout as tiring as his upcoming schedule seems to be, but it gets really interesting when he reaches the Rio car park and we get a look at his WSOP trailer-home for the duration.

It’s huge – big and well-enough stocked to host his own tournament inside – but it’s easy to imagine the cost would be enough to scare off most players from copying the Canadian poker legend.

It appears that Negreanu has either been getting better at editing or has hired someone to do it for him (more likely) as the production values of the slick 17 minute vlog are fantastic, and include hand analyses from his Tag Team’s opening effort, an evening indoor soccer match and a bedtime chat with his team-mate Wasserson.

You’ll struggle to find a WSOP vlog which has as much content across the board as Negreanu’s – limitless energy and a willingness to share it – but if you think this is how the average Vegas poker pro lives the dream you’d likely be in for a big surprise. Still, credit where credit’s due – he’s an entertaining man is our Daniel!
