He was the English pro who launched a thousand poker careers, a truly once-in-a-lifetime character, and now a documentary about the Devilish, Dave Ulliott, is set to air on partypoker’s TV channel.

As I wrote shortly after Dave Ulliott passed away in 2015, the Kingston-upon-Hull man encompassed everything that was interesting, colourful, skilful, and ‘edgy’ about the game of poker – with a career spanning several decades and a background which makes modern-day pros look like choirboys in comparison!

The Late Night Poker show at the end of last century introduced the Devilfish to an audience for whom he was the ultimate poker gangster, boasting bling before it became fashionable, as well as outplaying and out-talking opponents who dared to cross him.

Ulliott had already won a WSOP bracelet before he became a household name among the poker community in the UK, and he would go on to carve out a highly-successful career in the game, with lifetime tournament winnings of over $6million and a notoriety beyond his own shores.

As the trailer reveals, those who knew him were well aware he crossed the line at times – as he had done before making poker his life – and the documentary sees insights from the likes of the Hendon Mob’s Barney Boatman, Simon Trumper, Sam Trickett, Marcel Luske and others.

The Devilfish documentary will air exclusively on partypokerlive.com/en/tv in January.
