A week long search for the missing German pro has come to an end, as DNA tests have confirmed the identity of the body that was recovered on Friday. Although the police would not give out any information until they were certain, they have now confirmed that Johannes Strassmann was found dead.

The police just contacted us and confirmed us that the DNA test was positive and that the dead body is our friend Johannes. I am so sorry and sad to tell you this bad news. duc ngo;

This was posted on the Facebook group initially created to help in search for Strassman who disappeared on last Saturday, around 10 PM. According to the police report, time of death was Saturday, around midnight, and there were no signs of foul play. It seems at this time that death was caused by drowning and was result of a bad accident.

The final message from Strassmann’s friend Duc Ngo on the Facebook group stated: We regret that this tragic accident occurred. Johannes Strassmann was a loving and caring son, brother, and friend. He will always be in our hearts. We ask that the press respect the family's need for privacy as they grieve for their loss.

Unfortunately, there will be no happy conclusion to this story. Following the news of Strassmann’s death, many of his friends tweeted their condolences and shared their thoughts and last greetings.

We can all learn a lot from the life path Johannes was on. He knew there was more to life than poker, and dedicated his life to that belief. Justin Bonomo;

In the 7 years I knew Johannes Strassman he was a true gentleman for every minute, and I'm not sure I ever caught him without a smile. RIP Tony Dunst;

So sad to hear about Johannes Strassman's death. He was such a wonderful, charismatic, beautiful person to have known. RIP Melanie Weisner;

Waking up to the news about Johannes Strassman sucks. He really was one of the nicest guys I have ever met. Always found time to see how everyone was doing... I remember when I barely knew him and was visiting another friend in 09 in Berlin and he offered his place for me to stay in and to travel with me to the EPT. One of a kind guy. Christian Harder;
