A couple of weeks ago, Doyle Brunson announced that he was once again diagnosed with melanoma and that he would have to undergo surgery to have it removed. While these types of operations are never simple or risk free, Texas Dolly did not seem too worried about it and his positive attitude seems to have served him very well thus far. On Tuesday, Brunson notified more than 400k of his Twitter followers that the procedure was a success and that all was well.

The announcement was, naturally, followed by a great number of messages from those who were happy to hear that one of the greatest poker legends will be coming back to the tables. To remind you, this is not the first time that Doyle had to go through this type of surgery. In fact, the Godfather of Poker has had quite a few of these over the last couple of decades and has come out on top every time.

Although some of Doyle’s recent statements caused a bit of discussion among his followers, there is one thing that cannot be denied – there is nothing wrong with the Texan’s spirit. Soon after the surgery was over, he was back to his joking ways, despite some rather serious looking stitches.

All kidding aside, the fact that Brunson has the strength and spirit to fire away jokes after serious surgery is quite amazing. It could be partially due to the fact that he has kind of gotten used to going through these, but not many people would be capable of it.

Seeing the legend back on his feet is a most pleasant sight. We sure do hope that there is still game left in Doyle and that we will be seeing him around the poker tables for years to come.
