As the World Series of Poker finished last month, the fans are still in shock at the hand that burst the final table bubble. This epic three-way all-in confrontation will probably be remembered more than John Cynn who ended up winning the Main Event.

Usually when we get to this stage it’s like watching paint dry as the short stacks clam up to guarantee their time under the lights with nine left. This time around we were treated to a bang.

The blinds are 300,000/600,000 and Nicolas Manion opens to 1.5 million with pocket aces and 43.5 million behind. Antoine Labat, with 51 million behind flat calls with pocket kings. The shock comes when we see that Rich Zhu, with 25 million behind, also has pocket kings. Zhu ponders for a while and jams his 40bb stack into the middle.

Everyone then folds until it’s back on Manion and his rockets. He doesn’t wait too long before making the only sensible move and jams back over the top.

Labat in now in a quandary with his kings. ICM pressure at this stage of a tournament is severe but he has the opportunity to double up and get in a great spot to win the thing. In the end, no doubt as his tournament life is not at risk, he decides on the call, setting up a mighty uproar from the crowd when the holecards are turned over.

The flop comes 7J4 giving Labat some hope with backdoor clubs, but, alas, it wasn’t to be as the turn is the 3 and river J , putting Manion into a great position.
