GPI Becomes Official Eureka Ranking Partner

The PokerStars-sponsored Eureka Poker Tour has become the leading poker tour in Eastern and Central Europe. Kicking off for the first time in Prague in 2011, it has grown every year since, reaching very respectable numbers.

In a press release sent out earlier today, PokerStars announced that the tour has entered into a partnership agreement with the Global Poker Index. The poker ranking authority will take care of administering points for the Eureka Player of the Year competition using their unique scoring system.

With this step, Eureka is once again confirmed as a tour that is here to stay, as it joins the other PokerStars-sponsored tours such as the European Poker Tour (EPT), UKIPT and Estrellas that all use GPI's scoring system.

Some of the Eureka destinations during the past four seasons included Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Croatia. This year, things kick off in a small Czech town, Rozvadov, and will certainly visit Prague and Vienna, with other tour stops still to be announced.

The scoring system uses a special formula that takes into consideration the number of participants in a particular event, the buy-in and the final position. To be considered, an event has to have the attendance of over 21 players.
