Greg Merson Celebrates 6.5 Years of Sobriety!

The world of poker is replete with stories of great success and massive failure, the game bringing riches and ruin in equal measure, and Greg Merson has tasted both, but today the 2012 Main Event champion shared his latest sick brag and it had nothing to do with cards…

Merson has been one of the few to openly share his trials and tribulations with drug addiction, cocaine, heroin and Adderall all masters of his life in years past. Now even cannabis and smoking are off the agenda, replaced with yoga and meditation.

"Recently, I had a dream about cocaine” he told ESPN late last year. “It was more of a nightmare, having this vivid dream and thinking about throwing away all that hard work. I suddenly woke up from the adrenaline rush. It is one of the worst nightmares I can have."

His sobriety has rung true with many of his fans, followers and well-wishers, many sending their congrats and respect….

Well done indeed Greg Merson! Sickest brag of the week, and a Main Event double next month would top it off nicely. Go, go, go!
