American high-stakes pro Jean-Robert Bellande has finally broken his duck and landed his first World Series of Poker bracelet. After coming close on several occasions previously, the 47-year-old New Yorker turned Vegas resident crushed the opposition in the $5,000 6-Max NL event.

One of the highlights of this epic victory was an incredible hero call in a tricky situation.

The blinds are 20,000/40,000 with 5,000 antes.

Bellande opens to 85,000 under the gun with 54 and Andrew Graham three-bets to 250,000 from the cutoff. Bellande calls.

The flop comes A105 and Bellande checks. Graham quickly makes a bet of 125,000 into the 530,000 pot. After a short think Bellande calls again.

The turn is the A and Bellande once more checks to the aggressor. Graham fires again, and the bet is only 150,000 into a pot of 780,000. Bellande thinks for a brief moment before making the call.

The K rolls off on the river completing a board which crushes Grahams range, who then fires 375,000 into the 1,080,000 pot. He has made all of his bets small and doesn’t look like he’s trying to buy the pot; Bellande is in a really tough spot here.

Bellande doesn’t think for too long before making the call. Graham doesn’t even wait to see what hand he’s up against before mucking his cards face down. Bellande knows that he’s just made a sick call and can’t resist showing his 54 to the world.

Speaking to the media after his win, Bellande told how he was surprised to win his first bracelet in a NL event because it’s not his best game. He paid tribute to the world’s best players by acknowledging he’s not on their level even after working hard on his game, but added this makes it more exciting for him.
