Maria Konnikova is selling a chunk of her WSOP action with a charitable twist in mind. The biggest poker festival of the year kicks off in a couple of days and the Russian-American is set to do her bit for some causes close to her heart.

In a Facebook post, Konnikova stated her objectives for the upcoming series and encouraged fans to come and grab a piece of her action.

β€œThe WSOP is just a few weeks away, and I'll be there with bells and whistles. Come say hi if you're in Vegas -- or grab a piece of my events over at StakeKings! Some are sold out, but plenty still available, including the Main. This year, I'll be donating a portion of my summer winnings to two causes that I feel quite strongly about: Ukraine and abortion rights. Trying to make a small difference, one poker hand at a time.”
Poker fans interested in backing Konnikova can buy a fraction of the piece on offer and will receive that percentage back should there be any prize money won. Other players of note who are taking the same charity line this year are Allen Kessler, Chance Kornuth, and Joe Cada.

Learning from the Best

Maria Konnikova has only been a part of the poker community for the last five years but has been taught by one of the best in the business. After completing a PhD in psychology from Columbia University, she went on to write three books delving into how the mind works.

By the time the third book in her series was completed, none other than Erik Seidel took up the job of training Konnikova and within a year she had won an event at the 2018 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. Few would bet against more success at the 2022 World Series of Poker.
