Among the most established poker players to come from Italy is Max Pescatori. The 45-year-old, who now lives in Las Vegas, boasts over US$4 million of professional poker tournament winnings, and has four WSOP Gold Bracelets to his name.

Pescatori will soon only have three of those bracelets to show off, however, as he has very generously decided to auction one of them off on eBay. He has made the benevolent move in order to raise money to help those affected by the August 2016 Central Italy earthquake.

The earthquake caused the deaths of 297 people in three villages, as well as roughly 400 injuries. Over 2,100 people were displaced as a result of the damage caused by the quake, which is believed to have also resulted in an economic loss of at least US$1 billion.

Pescatori has a friend who founded a charity to lend a hand to the earthquake relief effort. The charity has bought and delivered mobile homes for families whose homes were lost in the quake, offering shelter while the rebuilding process continues to take place.

According to the eBay sale page, Pescatori was inspired to help his friend via the sale of his Gold Bracelet by the story of Polish discus thrower Piotr Malachowski. Malachowski sold his 2016 Olympic Silver medal to raise funds for a three-year-old child who was diagnosed with a form of eye cancer.

The bracelet that Pescatori is selling is the last one he won – the 2015 $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Championship. Pescatori topped a total field of 111 players – which included Daniel Negreanu and Huck Seed – to win the event and its US$292,158 top cash prize.

As of the time this article was written, the eBay auction had raised $6,100 after an impressive 49 bids and a $500 starting price. Those who would like to put a bid on the bracelet still have time, with the auction only set to end next Thursday night.
