Megabucks Slot Pays Out $12.1 Million in Las Vegas

One lucky punter has scooped an outrageous slots jackpot in Las Vegas after wagering a quick $10 at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino.

The woman was having a quick go on the popular Megabucks machine when she turned the pocket change into a more than life-changing sum.

IGT Gaming, manufacturer of the Megabucks Spitfire Multipliers Triple Red Hot 7s game, was quick to post the news.

"For the fourth time this year in Nevada, we’re crowning another Megabucks millionaire! A player at Excalibur Vegas hit a mind-blowing $12,185,766.40 jackpot playing Megabucks Triple Red Hot 7s Spitfire Multipliers slots!”

Incredibly, this is not even the biggest slots jackpot at the MGM-owned property this year. Already prizes of $14 million and $10.5 million have been handed out.

Twenty years ago, a $100 bet turned into $39.7 million in another Megabucks machine. That would be worth $66 million today.

The slots in Las Vegas pay out some huge prizes on a regular basis. Only last month, American racing driver Christy Georges-Barnett turned $25 into $1.1 million at Caesars Palace.

Squid Game Slot Title Licensed by Netflix

Netflix has licensed a Squid Game slot title in partnership with Light & Wonder, a leading games developer.

Last month, at the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) hosted at the Venetian, Las Vegas, the deal was announced for the streaming service provider to dip its toes into the gambling world by leveraging what is still the most-watched title on its platform.

Light & Wonder CEO Matt Wilson said:

“Light & Wonder is proud to be the first slots gaming company in the industry to partner with Netflix’s Squid Game and bring this ground-breaking show to life across multiple casino gaming platforms.

“We’ve seen how combining fan-favorite shows with immersive gameplay can resonate with audiences both digitally and on casino floors. Unveiling this captivating game on our innovative Horizon cabinet makes for an unparalleled player experience.”

Squid Game is a Korean TV drama series that covers characters fighting for survival in a reality-style challenge show that uses children’s games with a deadly twist.

One-by-one the participants lose their lives until there is only one challenger remaining who will win a KRW 45.6 billion (US$33.7 million) prize.

In the slot machine version, players will compete in adaptations of many of the games seen on-screen. The title will be seen first across gaming floors in the US, including Tribal casinos, with plans for a digital version to be rolled out in the near future.

A jackpot worth up to $400,000 will be up for grabs on some machines.
