MGM Resorts Launches Online Poker Site in New Jersey

There will soon be a new player on the block in New Jersey, with the announcement that the PlayMGM brand will enter the online poker and casino markets after a deal between MGM Resorts International and GVC Holdings PLC.

The same market that PokerStars entered with a fanfare last year, New Jersey currently boasts many of the poker world’s biggest names in their online offerings, but this is the first time the iconic MGM brand will feature since the state regulated poker back in 2013.

“This is a historic moment for MGM Resorts to be launching real money online casino and poker under the MGM brand for the first time,” stated Corey Sanders, Chief Operating Officer of MGM Resorts. “GVC has been a first-rate partner for us, and we are excited about the possibilities of extending that partnership as regulated markets open up in the U.S.”

GVC are well-known in the poker and online gaming world, currently owning brands such as Party Poker, Bwin and SportingBet  - and their own Chief Operating Officer, Shay Sege, said of the new deal:

With a launch set for later this year, PlayMGM casino and poker ’will sit on the latest version of GVC’s proprietary technology stack, which offers desktop and mobile variants, over 300 casino games and multiple variants of tournament and cash play poker’, according to Gamblinginsider.com.
