It will soon be the end of an area for the Monte Carlo resort in Las Vegas after the hotel’s owners confirmed that it will be shutting down its poker room. The closure is set to take place in April 25 and comes in the midst of a total transformation of the hotel.

In June last year it was announced that the resort would be undertaking a “$450 million transformation” that would result in two new hotels being built. The reconstruction means that the poker room at the Monte Carlo can no longer be in operation.

Although it was not the largest or most popular poker room in the bustling poker paradise of Las Vegas, the Monte Carlo received a reputation over the years as a place for a more relaxing poker playing experience.

The overwhelming majority of the reviews of the poker room on online review sites praised its friendly atmosphere, with one 2015 review on Yelp having described it as an “intimate, relaxing and fun place to play”.

The new hotels, which will be known as the Park MGM and the NoMad Las Vegas, are set to open their doors in 2018.
