Party Poker Quadruples 2018 MILLIONS Online GTD Prizepool to $20 Million

This year's inaugural MILLIONS Online MTT at Party Poker that played out earlier this month guaranteed $5 million in prize money. Next year, the guarantee will be increased four-fold to a colossal $20 million.

Set for December 1-4, 2018, the MILLIONS Online entry fee will remain the same as this year's buy-in at $5,300. And although the action is 12 months away, that gives players plenty of time to gain entry to the massive tournament via satellites that will be running all year.

"Running the first MILLIONS Online this year was an exciting time for us," stated Party Poker Managing Director Tom Waters. "The feedback we had from our players was overwhelming, so what better way to say thank you than to run it again but this time making the guarantee a whopping $20,000,000.”

A MILLIONS Online Leaderboard race gets underway on Feb. 5 that will award the top 10 players each week with a seat to the $5,300 MILLIONS Online. Players who manage to win more than one seat will get $5,300 in tournament dollars, with no cap placed on the number of seats that any single player can win. Also, mid and low level leaderboard races will dole out prizes in the form of satellite tickets valued anywhere from $22 up to $530 to the top 20 players weekly.

Party Poker LIVE players will be rewarded as well, with $53,000 worth of MILLIONS Online seats given to the 1st to 10th place finishers of 2018 MILLIONS Main Events. That giveaway kicks off in Germany at Kings Casino from Feb. 10-18.

$4 Million to the Winner?

The 2017 MILLIONS Online garnered 1027 entries, resulting in a $5.1 million prizepool - the largest ever at Party Poker. Jon Van Fleet emerged as the champion and took home more than $1 million in so doing.

If the payout structure for the 2018 version of MILLIONS Online stays the same, the winner could receive a prize of $4 million. That would be the largest prize in online MTT history.

Party Poker Live President John Duthie admitted to being apprehensive about running such a massive tournament, but saw many positives about doing so.

"It gives us the opportunity to bring together our MILLIONS players from all over the world at the end of the year to compete for an unprecedented prizepool," Duthie said. "Players supported us [in 2017] so we should return the favour and go for a record breaking online prizepool in 2018.”
