One of the last events of this year’s PCA, the $25k High Roller, will be crowning its winner today, together with the Main Event champ. Despite a high buy-in, the tournament attracted quite a few players, as the number of entries peaked at 269 (200 unique registrations and 69 reentries). That makes it the biggest ever PCA high roller and the seventh biggest $25k buy-in event ever.

The big turnout generated a massive prize pool just shy of $6.5 million, with $1,294,460 going to whoever ends up with all the chips today. As things stand right now, Canadian Jean-Pascal Savard has the best chance of making it happen, as he will return with the chip lead and a stack of 2.4 million.

However, Oleksii Khoroshenin of Ukraine is right behind him with 2,256,000, and the number 6 player on the Ukraine all-time money list will certainly try to give the Canadian a hard time at the table. Quite a few other formidable names are still in the running as well, including Dan Heimiller, Dominik Nitsche, Scott Seiver, Bryn Kenney and the official short stack, Faraz Jaka.

Yesterday saw more than 100 players hit the rail, as the day started with 117 survivors and 12 fresh registrations. As one would imagine, the action was fast and furious. The likes of Igor Kurganov, Jonathan Little, Andrew Robl, millionaire Paul Newey, and many others had their dream of making the final table taken away from them.

Daniel Negreanu was the last remaining player carrying the PokerStars Team Pro banner, but was eliminated in 14th place after Heimiller rivered one of his unlikely four outs against KidPoker’s flopped top two pair.

When they return today, the high rollers will play down to the winner. All the remaining survivors are guaranteed at least $112,980, but everybody will be looking to make the final table and get their hands on that huge first place bounty worth $1,294,460.

With the Main Event coming to a conclusion and the High Roller also crowning its champion, it will be a very exciting day in the Bahamas. Our team, Laura, Rikard and Richard, will do their best to bring at least a small piece of this great atmosphere to your homes and perhaps prompt you to join the fun next year.

Because you just can’t go wrong in the Bahamas!
