The World Series of Poker Main Event is known for its continuous action and memorable moments, but this year, 17-time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth once again stole the show with his traditional grand entrance.

Dressed as P.T. Barnum from the 2017 movie "The Greatest Showman," Hellmuth turned the event into a circus-like spectacle, complete with a “caged lion” and a parade of models.

A Tradition of Grand Entrances

Phil Hellmuth is no stranger to making a statement at the WSOP Main Event. Over the years, he has dressed up as various characters, such as Gandalf (WSOP 2022), Thor (WSOP 2018), and Julius Caesar (WSOP 2009).

This year, he went the extra mile, accompanied once again by Daniel "Jungleman" Cates, who was dressed as a lion and confined in a cage.

As they entered the Horseshoe Events Centre, 17 models followed, each holding a card with a number from 1 to 17, representing Hellmuth's record-breaking bracelet wins.

In contrast to the chorus of boos that greeted Hellmuth at last year's event, the reception to his arrival this year was much warmer. As Katy Perry's "Roar" played in the background, the poker legend made his way through the crowd, drawing applause from spectators and fellow players alike.

Phil Hellmuth's grand entrance was not the only highlight of the 2023 WSOP Main Event. The event itself made history as the largest in the series' 53-year history, with over 4,100 participants taking their seats on Day 1D.

Hellmuth, who won his record 17th WSOP bracelet in the $10,000 buy-in Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold'em event, continues to entertain his fans with a promise of much more to come in the future.
