Johannes Strassmann, a German poker player, who’s been reported missing a week ago in Slovenia, has not been found yet. Strassmann was visiting his friends in Slovenia at the time of his disappearance, and the missing person’s report was filed on June 22nd.

Strassmann and his friends were planning on meeting in Slovenian capital, Ljubljana, and then heading together for the Croatian coast. This never happened, however, as on the evening of 21st, Johannes left the group of friends he was with and disappeared in Gornji, a street in the capital’s old town.

After several days of unsuccessful search, the police seemed to have finally caught a break after they have received an anonymous tip that they have heard the voice of young man speaking English with a German accent, calling for help. The police increased their search efforts in the area where the reported event took place, but they once again had no luck finding Strassmann. It did not help that the search area was very hard to access due to the consequences of a strong storm from 2013.

In the most recent development of the events, the police found body of a dead young man on Friday morning, on the banks of Ljubljanica River in Ljubljana. Immediate identification was not possible due to conditions the body was in, so to confirm the identity of the deceased, the authorities will be performing a DNA test.

It will take between 24-48 hours for the test results to come in, so the identity of the person who was found dead should be revealed sometimes during the afternoon or evening on Saturday. The results of the tests should provide a definite answer if it is a body of Johannes Strassmann.

There is nothing else to do now but to wait and hope, especially for those closest to Strassmann, his mother and sister who have arrived to Ljubljana. Johannes also has a lot of friends in the poker community who have been in disbelief about the most recent news and have been sending out their messages of support via their Twitters.

In the meantime, if you wish to extend your support to the family and friends and stay up to date with most recent developments, you can visit a Facebook group set up by his friend to help finding missing 29-year old German.
